Today, Artis keeps her love for numbers and the arts alive as a finance operations business partner with Netflix, where she tracks film costs and streamlines publicity spending for the leading streaming entertainment service.
Artis moved to Netflix from the independent producer and distributor A24, which produced the 2017 Academy Award-winning film Moonlight. In switching from studio to streaming service, Artis says she’s drawn on the versatility she gained by exploring different interests at Bucknell to help her reset how she thinks about her role in film productions.
Staying on budget is ever on her mind. Last year Artis self-published Where Is My Money?, a personal finance guide, informed by her accounting expertise and experience of paying down $27,000 of debt in 18 months. Through worksheets and exercises, Artis helps readers rank what they most value — eating out, travel, personal development — so they can align their spending to support those activities while maintaining a budget that helps them build a legacy. She offers “a personal connection to finances” that her readers didn’t have before.
And after a hard day’s work, what does Artis throw on Netflix? Something to help keep her own life in order, she says.
“Right now I’m watching Tidying Up with Marie Kondo,” she says. “I just moved to LA, got a new apartment, and I’m trying to figure out ways I can organize it.”
