CATCH A RISING STAR

Vaughn Spann: Lineage, now open at the Samek Art Museum’s Campus Gallery, is the first museum exhibition to focus exclusively on the young New Jersey artist’s abstract paintings. Spann’s paintings may be experienced both on purely formal terms in relation to the history of abstraction as well as in relation to a historical discourse around race and representation in art that dates back to the Harlem Renaissance, Great Depression and Black Arts Movement. The exhibition runs until Dec. 5.
