Check out the exhibition Damaged Goods: The Punk Aesthetic at the Campus Gallery of the Samek Art Museum until Dec. 8.
The 300 items exhibited include rare and classic materials — from large prints and posters to concert flyers, LPs and 7-inch single sleeves, ’zines, stickers, badges, T-shirts and eight-track tapes. The exhibit features artists from the proto-punk period (the Velvet Underground, David Bowie, Brian Eno, New York Dolls, Iggy Pop, Kraftwerk) to “1st Wave” acts from the U.S. (Patti Smith, Ramones, Blondie, Richard Hell, Talking Heads, Devo) and the UK (Sex Pistols, Clash, the Buzzcocks, Siouxsie and the Banshees) to subsequent new wave and experimental postpunk developments and finally, hardcore punk of the early to mid-’80s.
