Bucknell business leaders representing a span of four decades have joined the Board of Trustees.

Robert Chrencik ’73 is president and CEO of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), a 14-hospital health-care system spanning the state of Maryland. Chrencik, who graduated from Bucknell with a degree in finance and accounting, is a CPA who was previously the CFO at UMMS as well as a senior manager in health-care consulting at KPMG. A regular attendee of Bucknell’s Scholarship Day, he was a speaker at the event in 2011.

Another Scholarship Day speaker is Laureen Leptinsky Costa ’90, who shared the podium with her husband, Michael Costa ’91, M’96, in 2015. Laureen Costa, an economics major at Bucknell, has more than 20 years of experience investing in private equity and now is a portfolio manager in the asset management private equity group at JPMorgan Chase & Co. Before joining JPMorgan in 1997, she was a portfolio manager for AT&T Investment Management Corp.

Two other business administration degree holders round out the new group of trustees. Garry Thaniel ’04, who served as a Walling Speaker Series lecturer at Bucknell in 2017, recently became global head of GS1, a nonprofit standards organization that uses barcode and technology tools to identify and share information about products, assets, shipments and physical locations throughout the global supply chain. He is also the co-founder of CNCTKicks, a peer-to-peer mobile commerce platform, and was previously the CEO of ONA Fine Bags & Accessories.

David West ’85, who has occupied significant leadership positions with three large food companies — Del Monte, Hershey and Nabisco — rounds out the new group of board members. Now a partner at Centerview Capital, a private investment firm, he recently was CEO of Conyers Park Acquisition Corp. In the past, West served as a member of his class committee and the Bucknell Professional Network advisory board.
